It’s a gorgeous spring day, and it’s also International Workers Day. Although this isn’t celebrated in the US, it is in most other countries.

Not a mention of it in today’s Washington Post, though. Instead there’s a story about a passenger assaulting a Muslim taxi driver, and about the possibility that the Boston Marathon bombers may have had international contacts. This is a day when we should focus on solidarity among all the people who keep this world functioning, day by day. Instead, there’s that ongoing hum of suspicion.
